Hi, I am Miyoko Fuse.

Feng shui practitioner, gerontologist, author, educator

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, in a culture that values minimalistic and practical use of space, habitual cleaning, and an appreciation for the seasons and the arts. When I came to America, I was surprised to see how many pieces of furniture were used to fill a space, how many objects were displayed on the walls, and how homes were cleaned less frequently compared to Japan.

The space and walls feel suffocated. A home needs to breathe. Breathing is how Chi flows. People who feel overwhelmed by work, relationships, or family issues can benefit not only from taking a moment to relax and focus on their own breathing, but also from allowing their home to breathe. Feng Shui can help.

I am a certified Feng Shui practitioner. I completed the Feng Shui Practitioner Program at the Emerald Feng Shui Institute in Seattle, where I trained with Gisela Stehr, who is now retired. After 2.5 years of study, I earned a Feng Shui Practitioner Certificate in intuitive Feng Shui. I integrate Feng Shui with environmental and design psychology, including the use of environmentally friendly materials and age-friendly accessibility.

Home is one of our basic needs. Your happiness and peace depend on it. I’m here to help you build a healthy living space and strengthen your connections within the community.

Besides consultations, I have conducted workshops and talks on Feng Shui and Aging-in-Place for various organizations, including public entities, universities, and retirement facilities such as the City of Portland, Portland Community College, Portland State University, and several retirement homes.

I am a Certified Aging‑in‑Place Specialist (CAPS), helping older adults remain in their homes, a designation recognized in home building and senior care. I also hold the Certified Green Professional (CGP) credential, which promotes sustainable building practices. Both certifications are granted by the National Association of Home Builders.

I am the author of Healthy Home for Healthy Aging with Feng Shui. The book guides you through each space of the home, indoors and outdoors, using Feng Shui. It is a versatile resource that supports and inspires people of all ages, from older adults to younger generations. My article, Feng Shui and Aging in Place, is included in the Encyclopedia of Gerontology and Population Aging.

I am also a part-time instructor of Japanese language at a local community college in Portland, Oregon.
